Volumia! (1992-2002) was a Dutch pop band from Heerlen (province Limburg). De band (9 persons strong) started as cover band in a student society, but over the years they began to write their own songs, in the Dutch language. Front man was singer-songwriter and pianist Xander de Buisonjé (1973).
The band scored several hits. Their two biggest hits were: 'Farewell'/'Afscheid' (apr. 1998) and above song 'Hold me tight'/'Hou me vast' (sept. 1998). The first was in the National Hit Parade Top 40 for 19 week (highest position: 4); and the latter for 18 weeks (highest position: 2). 'Hold me tight' reached the status of a Golden Record.
Both songs have been voted into the Top 2000 (traditionally broadcasted the last week of the year), 'Hold me tight' even every year, with 274/2000 as highest position.

In 1999 above song 'Hold me tight' was used as film music for the movie Fourteen chicken/Het 14e kippetje (1999), written by Arnon Grunberg and with leading roles for Antonie Kamerling and Thekla Reuten. The song won the Rembrandt Award for best film song. Volumia! was also awarded that year with the Edison Award for best new band.
Since 2002 Xander de Buisonjé has a solo career. He is known for his performance during the farewell-concert for André Hazes, singing 'She believes in me'/'Zij gelooft in mij' and his contributions to the yearly series of concerts 'The friends of Amstel life'/'De vrienden van Amstel life' (2003-present).
In 2011 he took part in the television programme The best singers of the Netherlands/De beste zangers van Nederland. During one episode singer Glennis Grace sang his song 'Farewell'/'Afscheid', scoring both the number 1 position in the iTunes ranking and in the Single Top 100. The single reached the Golden Record status and ment the big breakthrough for Glennis Grace.
