The Dutch Metropole Orkest (1945), 'Metropole Orchestra', is the largest full-time jazz, rock and pop orchestra in the world. It consists of over 50 musicians, they released over 150 albums and played in countless radio- and tv-shows. They won a Golden Harp (1995) and 3 Grammy Awards (2011, 2016).

In the years from 2011 the orchestra was in danger of discontinuance. They had a shortage of 15 million euro's because of austerity measures (cutting back in costs) of the government. Several campaignes were initiated, like a petition and this protest song 'Worldwide orchestra'. At the end of 2012 they got extra yearly subsidy, which guaranteed their existence at least until 2017.
The above song was in the National Hit Parade Top 40 for four weeks (highest position 12).

John Ewbank (1968) is a Dutch songwriter, pianist and producer. He won over 10 Edison Music Awards and over 20 hits written by him reached a number 1 position in the Top 40. He writes mostly for Marco Borsato, but also for artists like Trijntje Oosterhuis, The Cats, Gordon, Paul de Leeuw and Roel van Velzen.
Han Kooreneef (1963) is a Dutch songwriter. He wrote for artists like Guus Meeuwis, Paul de Leeuw, Karin Bloemen, Liesbeth List, Ruth Jacott, Mathilde Santing and Trijntje Oosterhuis.
