Kinderen voor Kinderen ('Children for Children', 1980) is a Dutch national children's choir. Every year, since 1980, they release an album with new children's songs for the age of 8 till 13. Every year schoolchildren in that age range are asked what the subjects of the songs should be (like friendship, holiday, pets, starting secondary school, shyness, boredom, handicaps, divorce, war, illness, falling in love, acne, bullying, homework, etc.).
Well-known songwriters, lyricists and composers are asked to write one or two songs for a new record. Contributors were for example: Harry Bannink, Herman Pieter de Boer, Jan Boerstoel, Claudia de Breij, Tonny Eyk, Robert Long, Henk Temming, Henk Westbroek, Willem Wilmink and Ivo de Wijs.
The choir was set up to raise money for charity (especially for children in the Third World) - that explains the name of the choir. Since the 1990's, the choir no longer supports charities. Every year the songs are presented in a big TV-show, just before the new album is launched. This TV-show is also released on dvd.

The choir Children for Children/Kinderen voor Kinderen won 1 time a Diamond Album, 11 times a Platinum Album and 4 times a Golden Album (in 38 years). No less than seven singles (although they're not pop songs) reached the National Hit Parade Top 40.
The above song 'Photo album'/'Foto-album' (1981) was sung by Lara Brusse. It's about parents who are divorced and the pain it causes that, after the divorce, the child still loves both parents, who don't love each other anymore.
Willem Wilmink (1936-2003) was a poet, (lyrics) writer and singer. He wrote a dozen children's books and books about poetry for children; songs for children and adults; over 10 volumes poetry; and over 50 other books. Some well-known songs are: 'Put your fist on my fist'/'Deze vuist op deze vuist'; 'Litte Freek'/'Frekie'; 'The old school'/'De oude school'; and 'Radio 3'/'Hilversum III' (1984, translation).
