Stef Bos (1961) is a Dutch actor and singer. After the Theatre Academy he worked as an actor and lyricist for a few years, but then decided to write and sing his own music.
The above song 'Daddy'/'Papa' (1991), from his first album, became a big hit. The album became double platinum and he won both an Edison Music Award and a Golden Harp. He sang in theatres for years and released over 30 albums (his albums in Afrikaans included).
In the 1990's he started to travel through Africa, especially South-Africa. This influenced his music. In 2012 he married South-African artist Varenka Paschke. He won a South-African singer-songwriter award, due to his 15 years contribution to the South-African music.

Stef Bos wrote the above song 'Daddy'/'Papa'(1991), after his parents told him his father (then 67) was seriously ill with cancer. The shock that he might lose his father, urged him to write the song in no time. Fortunately, his father got cured and lived to see all the success this song brought his son. He died 24 years later, in 2014, 91 years old.
Stef Bos continued to sing the song over the decades, but made several versions, because both he himself, his religious feelings and his (thoughts about his) relationship with his father changed over the years.
The song is still voted every year into the Top 2000 (traditionally broadcasted on the radio in the last week of the year), as high as place 28/2000.
