Harrie Jekkers (1951) is a The Hague singer, songwriter and writer. In 1978 he started the band Klein Orkest ('Little Orchestra', 1978-1985).
Well-known hits of the Nederpop-band Klein Orkest include: 'Just leave me alone'/'Laat mij maar alleen' (1982); 'Koos Unemployed'/'Koos Werkeloos' (1983); and 'Over the wall'/'Over de muur' (1984).
Besides hits with this band, Harrie Jekkers had his biggest hit under the stage name Harry Klorkestein (anagram of Klein Orkest) with the above song 'Oh, oh, The Hague'/'O, o, Den Haag' (1982). The lyrics is a series of memories of his childhood and teenage years in The Hague in the 1960's and 1970's.
The song was in the National Hit Parade Top 40 for eight weeks (highest position: 4). It has been voted into the Top 2000 (traditionally broadcasted on the radio the last week of the year) 15 times (as high as place 815/2000).

The Hague is the capital of the province South-Holland and is situated (with seaside village Scheveningen) at the shore of the North Sea. Moerwijk and the Schilderswijk are districts in The Hague. ADO is the football club of The Hague (Theo van der Burch and Martin van Vianen were players in the sixties and seventies). The street 'Lange Poten' and the square 'Plein' are both in the inner city of The Hague.
The band members refused to release the song 'O, o, Den Haag' (1982), because their other songs were engaged and socialy critic. Their roadmanager was photographed for the record cover. After it became a hit, the band used the song as extra after concerts.
The song became a real classic and is sometimes regarded as the anthem of the city The Hague.
