Willy and Willeke Alberti was an occasinal duo of father and daughter: Willy Alberti (1926-1985), stage name of Carel Verbrugge, and Willeke Alberti (1945), stage name of Willy Albertina Verbrugge.
In the 1940's and 1950's Willy Alberti mostly sang in Italian - this explains his Italian sounding stage name. From 1958 onward he sang several duets with his daughter Willeke Alberti. They sang more songs together over the years, although she mainly had a career of her own.
Some well-known songs of Willy Alberti are: 'At the foot of the Western Tower'/'Aan de voet van die oude Wester' (1957); 'Marina' (1959); 'Good night child'/'Buona notte bambino' (1963); 'That corny sentence'/'Dat afgezaagde zinnetje' (1967); and 'To see a smiling child'/'De glimlach van een kind' (1968). Alberti won an Edison Music Award (1960) and a Golden Harp (1973).

Daughter Willeke Alberti scored a big hit with her single 'Mirror image'/'Spiegelbeeld' (translation from a French song) in 1963. In 1975 she played the title character in the movie Red Sien/Rooie Sien. This role brought her again a hit, 'Again and again'/'Telkens weer' (1975). Another hit, ten years later, was 'Being close'/'Samen zijn' (1987).
She played in over ten films and released over 15 albums. Willeke Alberti won an Edison Music Award for her first album (1965) and a Golden Harp oeuvre award in 1981.
Above song was in the Top 40 for 8 weeks (highest position 5). Only two years after the success of this song, in 1985, Willy Alberti died suddenly because of liver cancer, only 59 years old. In 2008 a compilation album was released with the title The 100 most beautiful songs of Willy & Willeke Alberti/De 100 mooiste liedjes van Willy & Willeke Alberti (2008).
