Teach-In (1969-1980) was a Dutch pop band from Enschede, in the province of Overijssel. They sang primarily in English. Some of the regular members were: Getty Kaspers (singer), Koos Versteeg, Chris de Wolde, John Gaasbeek and Rudi Nijhuis.
The band scored several hits in the 1970's, like 'Fly away' (1974); 'In the summernight' (1974); 'Goodbye love' (1975); 'Upside down' (1976), 'See the sun' (1977) and 'Dear John' (1978).
In 1975 Teach-In won the Eurovision Song Contest with the above song Ding-a-dong. In the Netherlands it was released in Dutch. The song was in the National Hit Parade Top 40 for seven weeks (highest position: 3). It has been voted into the Top 2000 (traditionally broadcasted on the radio the last week of the year) seven times.

In Dutch the lyrics describes an ending romance: the man stays away many nights, while the woman is waiting for him ('waiting for you': first seconds and minutes like tikke-tak, then hours on end, while the clock strikes ding-a-dong). The English translation was heavily criticised, because the love story became very unclear.
After they had won the Song Contest, the song was covered in several languages, including German, French and Turkish. In 2008 the band had a once only reunion and sang the song one more time during the opening of the Eurovision Song Contest in Moscow, Russia.
The Netherlands won the Eurovision Song Contest four times (in the 20th century), also with: 'Like those days', Corry Brokken (1957); 'A little', Teddy Scholten (1959); and 'The troubadour', Lenny Kuhr (1969).
